                                     Monday
    Caelum
Caelum started his science book. Letts ks3 11-14. On cells in humans and plants he made some flash cards and he really enjoyed it. When asked later in the day about the different cells he most the names and the functions. He changed his bed on his own. Cleaned the rabbit and took Jessie for a walk.

    Tobi
Tobi wasn’t really working with me. He put up a big fight when I asked him to do a simple task. Writing numbers from 1-100. This is most probably because he hasn’t worked in a while. And wanted to do his own thing. But he did it in the end. He changed his bed with help.

                                           Tuesday
     Tobi
Tobi started his year 2 maths sheets today. He did sheet one. It was county up and down in ones and twos. He found the first part ok but the second part was a bit of a challenge. He did it though in the end and did really well.

   Caelum
Caelum started a new maths book today. It’s a Letts ks3 one that’s goes from 11-14. He didn’t really have any difficulty with the work as it was place value but due to being away is finding difficult to get back into the flow of things.

                                     Wednesday
  Tobi
Tobi started his year 2 English today. He did some work out of his grammar and punctuation (Collins primary focus). He did really well considering he hasn’t really done this yet. He thought he just had to do one question and didn’t like it when I said he had 6 questions to do. He eventually did it though and did really well.

  Caelum
Caelum did some English out of his new English book today. Letts ks3 11-14. He is still struggling getting into work again after being away so this took a little longer to do than it would normally take him. And the teenager came out. He was doing a section on reading. Skimming, scanning and close reading. He played up a bit but did get the point. When questioned about it later he answered all questions correctly.

                               Thursday:
  Tobi:
Ok so I was on my own today, I was determined to continue to teach both boys! I set Tobi on some online science games, http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesiz HYPERLINK “http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/” HYPERLINK “http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/” HYPERLINK “http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/”e/ks1/ he did all 3 levels on Florist Life Trail, Animal Hospital, Garden Guru, Vetiation Detective
Tobi did some adding and subtracting up to 3 digit numbers, I kept the 3 digit numbers easy e.g. 350+5 / 598-2, so that he gets used to working with bigger numbers, he actually whizzed through these quicker than the 2 digit numbers!
Tobi made his own instant noodles, I only told him what to do, very proud and impressed!

  Caelum:
We had a chat this morning, I explained to Caelum again that the quicker he gets these books done, the quicker he can do his GCSE’s, then we can concentrate on the things he really wants to do, not only that but as soon as he has done his exams and got good marks, I’ll stop pushing and nagging because then I’ll know he’ll be ok whatever he decides to do he’ll always have those marks. I also told him that I know he is more than capable of doing it, he just needs pushing. Caelum totally understood and agreed.
Caelum continued his English book Letts ks3 11-14. I think these are very good books indeed as they have 3 ways of learning and it can be quite fun! he finished the page on skimming and scanning, he did the task of writing the first 5 things he saw in his room then the first 5 things that began with the letter ‘D’ he saw in his room. He wrote down how the audio poem made the war sound. He completed everything on page 8 and 9, on inferring meaning, Imply and infer, he found the meanings of these, wrote them down, looked at some tv adds, told me what the infer meaning was, he also read some examples.
Caelum also did ‘reading critically’, he read the explanation out to me (twice, because he rushed the first time!) he read some examples out and then he told me what he understood from it and his explanation was very good indeed, I just would like him to write this down but it was getting late so we’ll do this another day but Caelum did extremely well today.

                                        Friday:
  Caelum:
Caelum wrote a page on reading critically, he had no help at all, even though the writing could have been better and he wouldn’t have made so many spelling mistakes if he had maybe thought about spelling, because in the same document he spelt the miss-spelt words right, the contents was very good indeed and it shows that he knows and understands this very well.
Caelum continued his science book. Letts ks3 11-14. On cells in humans and plants, he listened to the audio again. He studied the flash cards in which he made, he was tested on them and got 50% of the info right, not bad considering he hasn’t done much work on them at all. He watched a youtube video on cell structure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URUJD5NEXC8. This is a very good video and helped Caelum a lot.

  Tobi:
Tobi did some maths today, working with 3 digit numbers, adding and subtracting, this was the last part from Tuesday. For some reason he had it in his head that he couldn’t do it, so as soon as he saw the sheet he straight away said ‘no that’s too hard’. It was very hard, however my mum and I didn’t give up and he didn’t like it! However once he was over his tantrums and realized we weren’t giving up, he decided to try! We taught him the hundreds, tens and units columns and eventually Tobi was doing this work, getting it right and he completed it. This does need working on but he’ll get there.
Tobi did some English online http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/ Rhyming Words, River Rhyming, I made him do the medium level 3 times, he has seemed to forgotten his sounds (or he just didn’t want to bother!) so I did some youtube videos on sounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1bseW0nI2k PH

                                Saturday
  Tobi
Tobi started to sort out his photographs from America. He learnt how to delete the one which he didn’t want. Unfortunately, the date had not been set right on the camera and the photographs had the wrong date on them. He learnt a small amount about how to use the ccloning tool on PaintShop which enabled him to delete the incorrect dates. We went to Mini Mischiefs where Tobi had to buy his own refreshments.                                                          By Bonnie (Mum)

Caelum
After all the hard work Caelum did on Thursday and Friday he had Saturday off

                                   Sunday
We made veggie crisps and banana bread. The boys did get a bit uptight because they said ‘it was the weekend and they shouldn’t have to do anything’, I just said ‘things are going to change’.
